This course covers modern virtualization tools and practices for enterprise computing. Beginning by introducing and contrasting virtualization tools in a clear and simple way, the course then covers best practices for different usage scenarios in the real world.

Learn how to use VMWare and Xen and to understand the best ways to make use of virtualization. Students will get hands-on experience with VMWare and Xen on both Windows and Linux platforms. We explore the benefits and costs of virtualization technology from your point of view.

This course is available in two formats, focusing on topics most useful to the student:

  • Virtualization for Software Developers concentrates on virtualization’s impact on software development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Virtualization for Administrators and Integrators concentrates on an administrator or solution provider’s point of view.
